I use the Prizm editor for doing all of my code.  I quit prizm in order
to do compiling and linking.  I've got a 9 MHz Zipped GS w/4 MB of
RAM.  The windows scroll very fast, and you can have lots of files open
at the same time.   Plus, you can split each window into two parts to
allow for file comparison and easy cut and past operations.

Plus, for smaller programs you can actually compile and execute from
within Prizm.  Even graphical output can be displayed from within a
window.

I have had problems with programs locking up, and then being unable
to exit from Prizm.  As a result, I've taken to simply quitting 
Prizm, and returning to the text shell to do compiles.  It's not as
good as it could be, but it's no worse that using a text based
editor.

emacs?  You might as well shoot yourself (talk about user unfriendly).
