John,

I do remember Vitesse claimed their scanner is the "only" one that 
supports WestCode's InWords.  I also remember for the ThunderScan to be 
InWords compatible, you'll have to purchase a "update" kit from Vitesse, 
which gives you a new controller and software.  It went for about $80.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
