Termulator upgrading help

Hi, I have an Apple IIe that I'm trying to revive as a terminal.
I haven't used it since 1987....
My system is 2 5.25" Disk ]['s
64k +64k on the 80 column card,
SuperSerial clone card.
Dos 3.3
ProDos 1.0.something (I forget)

I have a very dumb terminal emulator that won't do vt100 emulation.
So after lurking and reading, I went and ftp'd sciibin and company,
shrinkit, binscii, zlink, plus a bunch of kermits. These guys are sitting
on my Unix box. sciibin compiled fine, and if I run it on
z.link.bsq, I get out a file called Z.LINK.SHK (So I think it works,unless
there are problems with bigendian or littleendian workstations. IBM RS/6000)

In downloading, the terminal emulator does allow xmodem transfers.
BUT I found that after about 23k, the program--(Practical
Peripherals made it sometime in the dark ages)--instead of writing to disk,
it keeps it in memory, and starts reporting sector number too large and freezes
(near as I can tell, sector number isn't disk sector in this case)
Things smaller than that, it will collect the file in ram, and then moves to
the next option which is save file-- and lets me choose T, A, I or B for the
filetype. (This program dies if I try to run it under Prodos--
suggesting that there is a RAM location problem?)
So I can get files down that are less than that limit, but not larger.

1)Is there a small termulator that will fit in this space, or should I be
trying something like maxfiles, himem, or relocating the termprogram to
some other space in memory? (if so, where?, any good magic words?)

2)What file format should I be saving these SHK files?

3)With Executioner files--I gather I just EXEC the T file, and it goes to
work?

Help and a FAQ would be greatly appreciated.
-email preferred, but I'll be checking this group over the next week or so.
Thanks in advance,
