The potential advantage is mainly speed.

Yet Another File System--my sentiments exactly.  A new not-compatible-with-
anthing file system would bring unnecessary confusion to the world, as well
as needing new experts & utilities for disk repair.

Such a project is *technically* interesting to me, but not interesting in
practice.  There's much more pressing stuff to do.
