Just to clarify (in case anyone goes googling in teh wrong direction), the term "clamshell" only applies to the original G3 iBook, not the iMac of the same era. This is to differentiate it from the later G3 iBooks which, being square, diddn't resemble a clamshell very much... G3 iMacs are generally referred to as either "slot-loading" (later models) and "tray-loading" (earlier models which I think all lack firewire), based on how the CD/DVD drive works.

Thanks for clearing that up.  I thought of it after I posted...

All iMacs have USB 1.1 which may be a compatibility issue (though I've never come across that).

Also, Tiger is available on CD (about 17 of them IIRC), which you can likely find cheap on eBay.
