Vulcan PS Replacement

FYI:

The power supply in my recently-acquired Vulcan GS was serious toast. Many burned-through "flameproof" resistors and at least one of the more expensive switching transistors reads as a single circuit node :-). Capacitors are not going to do the trick here, I'm afraid. (The seller had told me it was not working - sometimes you get lucky and sometimes not...)

In case anyone else is looking to rehabilitate one of these, I found a switching power supply that will fit the case:

Mean Well PT-65B

Available from Mouser, Jameco and others for ~USD $33.00. It's a 65W unit with +5, +12 and -12 output. I plan to mount a 7905T regulator (-5V TO-220 package) on the inside of the case to derive the -5V line.

If I have measured correctly, this is slightly narrower than the original unit and has the same length and height. If worse comes to worse, I may have to remove the fuse holder and replace with an internal in-line fuse.

Was able to grab a refurbished and guaranteed Conner CP-3104 from DCP Computer Products, so I'm on my way to a working Vulcan 100MB unit.
