In the last two weeks sometimes I shut down my new Gateway computer my
flatscreen Acer monitor starts making a VERY high pitched whine almost
identical to what I recall the old Apple IIe color monitors made at
school if you turned off the CPU before turning off the monitor. The
only difference is that I remember the IIe's being a bit louder as it
affected me from half way accross the classroom while my own monitor
only affects me in the MUCH smaller bedroom and not when I'm in the
hall.
This whine used to induce a headache, and I'm wondering what a better
way to describe it to people unfamiliar with Apple IIe's would be as I
need to ask for help figuring out what to do about it in another
newsgroup. Advice on terminology as well as why the IIe monitor did
that would be appreciated.
Alternately (and preferably), if somebody wants to give me off-topic
advice on directly addressing the problem here, I won't object.
