You may find this material informative:

I'd suggest keeping it recent rather than ancient, so System 8 or
above running IPNetRouter should do the trick.

Or you can replace the Mac&IPNetRouter combination with a hardware
device listed on that page, such as a Gatorbox (this is a popular
solution around here).
