Do you have any good pics of just the IIe Vulcan card by itself?
That would be a killer in helping me figure out if the cards are
the same with the difference only being the ROM. No where is it
listed on these cards themselves if they are IIgs or IIe. It just
says Vulcan with a Rev. It's only listed on the ROM.
The only difference is the ROM.
At 'U1' my GAL is marked 'HDC3A.N' and the pic on Henry's download
section has 'HDC3B.N', so, there may be something else that we're all
missing. I'm now desiring a copy of the 'HDC3B.N' GAL to find out if
this is why mine can't go beyond 20 MB no matter which ROM is in it.

I took pictures of my card (sorry they're so blurry):

nband.com/apple/vulcan_iie_40mb_back.jpg
U1 (upper left) is "HDC3B.N"
U2 (to the right of U1) is "HDC2A-N"
U13 (EEPROM) is rev "VUL1.4E/40" (could be VUL1.4F/40)...hard to tell
because of the alignment of the printing. Actually, looking at the
sticker again VERY closely, I think it's 1.4F.
U16 (to the right of U13) is "HDC1A-N".
And on the back there's a lovely capacitor mod.

Thanks! I really appreciate you taking photos. It's been a bit
maddening trying to figure this out on my end.
I love this forum.
Here are some pics I took today to make a comparison. It looks like
everything is pretty much the same except for the ROM.

If you want super hi-res 24 megapixel, I can put up a ZIP file with
those images.
Does anyone that has a ROM reader have access to the IIe ROM? I'll
check back with Henry on the ROM he made me but I think he needs a
breather with all the moving!
Thanks!

Actually, it's not the same. My cap on the back goes to a different
post on the board than yours. Mine is just to the right of yours. Same pin on the edge connector though.
]3ob
Mine has no cap at all, and Pin50 is not even connected.

Oh and I re-uploaded the photos with a closer look at what is the cap
connects to through the board on the front. Looks like a resistor on
mine.

Sure enough, there *is* a trace on that pin! If its just a pullup to
+12v, then that's also a pretty marginal use...perhaps later replaced
by a +5v pullup. Or maybe it is just +12v sensing...certainly optional.
