ROM 01 battery replacement - twisting leads ok?

I have several Apple IIGS's. Most of them were given to me by other
users who left the Apple II world and wanted a good home for their
machines.

Two of the IIGS's now have dead batteries. The Rom 03 doesn't appear
to be a problem - I got the battery out and I can buy a replacement.
Hopefully that will be easy.

I see from reading the FAQs and other threads that on the ROM 01 needs
a battery with leads. Some people have carefully twisted the leads of
the new battery with the old leads that are still attached to the
IIGS. My question is: is this okay to do?

There is NO WAY I am going to do any soldering - either of the new
battery leads or a battery holder, which many people suggested.

So, is the twisting leads method sufficient? Is it safe and secure?

And, would someone mind posting a link to a place where I can buy the
Rom 01 battery with leads? Or the exact name of the battery (with
pictures)?

Any better suggestions?
