Hello,
When I was a young lad I was fortunate enough to begin my film video
editing career (ok all it did were screenshots) with a Computer Eyes
IIe and a black/white video camera attached to a 6 foot cable to a
giant Magnavox VCR. My memory is foggy on the computer eyes config
maybe someone can shed some light.
I found a Computer Eyes external box that plugs into the internal
peripheral connector. Wasn't there also a card for the IIe?
I have the IIgs Computer Eyes II that a kind soul sold to me new in
the box. It doesn't seem to work with the transwarp though. It may be
the card is faulty. The image is really really bad even on a standard
IIGS. Even worse than my IIe photos I found on disks.
I have been unable to find the IIe Computer Eyes software for the
black box, but the IIGS stuff is easy. Obviously it doesn't work with
the older hardware (I tried).
On another note I found some of the images on the DOS disks which
means the original software must have been DOS based. To further that
I fired up the Newsroom (haaaa!) and actually found photos of myself
on an old 5 1/4 labeled for as newsroom photo disk.
I have been unable to open those newsroom images files on anything so
far BUT the newsroom. Would love to export them somehow to transfer
them.
There is a guy who has a black box computer eyes on eBay with manuals
and disks, but upon closer inspection it has the manuals for the IIGS
version and I can't tell what the disks contain. He's also insane at
$229 buy now only. Smokin' crack!
Recently I did bump into two awesome auctions for a number of cards
and one of them was a in the box Fingerprint GSi (without software..
anyone point me to a proper location on Asimov?). If I can't import
those newsroom images, I am hoping I can somehow use the card to
screen cap them and dump them to files. It may be hard as the newsroom
is DOS based. We'll see.
So;
1. Was there a computer eyes internal card for the IIe?
2. If there is a card for the IIe, anyone have one they want to trade
or sell?
3. Anyone have the proper software for a external black box computer
eyes?
4. Newsroom image file type?
Thanks to all!
I love this place.
