I'm trying to fix the RCA jack on the back of the Applecolor Composite
Monitor IIe. I took the 6 screws out of the back but was surprised to
see that when I tried to take it apart most of the guts were still
attached to the inside of the back of the monitor. Most monitors of
this era I've opened have just had a empty plastic shell to remove
from the back. So, for the moment I decided to put it back together.
Can anyone tell me the proper way to get this thing apart without
shocking myself or breaking anything?
I don't know that monitor.
But if I remember properly, the III monitor had a screw near where the
AC linecord went into the back, and that held the circuit board to the
back cover.
A lot of Apple things tend to have a "handle", ie a place where
you can carry the thing by inserting your fingers. That's often
a place for screws, though if they were still there you'd not
get the cover off.
Labels are often a place for screws. They prevent the commoners
from opening the unit, and they provide an indicator that the case
has been opened, if the label has been removed or been broken.
A label on the back might be under such a label, you can often tell
by running your finger along the label to feel for something.
