I had a similar problem with my Apple joystick. On the advice of
somebody here on the list I ended up opening up the joystick and
spraying the buttons with contact cleaner, which I purchased at Radio
Shack. The contact cleaner fizzed a bit. I waited for it to dry,
reassembled the joystick, and it worked perfectly since.
Before you start replacing the switches you might want to try this
method.
