This can only mean that something is marginal in your system. Could even be dirty contacts in the slot connector, but they tend to clean up when a card is extracted and replaced a few times. I have a platinum IIe and usually put my z80 card into slot 4. It also runs fine in slot 4 of a GS.
Apart from running faster and potentially having more memory my card is
logically equivalent to the real PCPI card.

AFAIK the software requires the boot disk to be in slot 6 on all z80 cards.
