Thanks, I'm giving Merlin a try. Although I have no idea what "the
usual" gmail account is, so I just went with 2.58. I'll only bother with
2.59 unless it fixes a bug which would affect me in some way. Anyway
though, thanks for the help!

If you search this Usenet newsgroup for GMAIL you will find the info you need to access said Gmail account. You might find some interesting things there.

An option worth mentioning regarding assembly, the Aztec C system has very good assembler support.
