Is this possible?
I recently dug out my old Apple IIgs and I have 2 5.25 and 2 3.5 drives.
Sadly, only a few disks are bootable due to them being 20++ years old.
Most of the GS 3.5 disks don't work. I know there's a ton of img files
on the net for emulators, but is there is there a way to write them out
on a PC 3.5 drive?
Actual magnetic degradation is pretty rare, unless they've been abused
physically or stored next to a magnetic field.
Take a look at the actual media while holding the window open--if there
is dirt or mold on the surface, the plastic case can be carefully opened
and the media cleaned and re-inserted to copy to a fresh diskette.
BTW, few 3.5" diskettes were protected, and the exceptions usually
relied on very simple means--not like 5.25" diskettes.
