Yes, I've always known about the compare bug, but this was my
first experience with a file copy bug!
Apparently the program uses its directory track buffer address
in place of the data buffer address occasionally.
It must be a peculiar circumstance that exercises the bug, since
I've used 9.1 to copy hundreds of files and never encountered it
until now. ;-(
That you know of! :-o
That's a fair comment! ;-)
But usually my ProDOS-->DOS file copies are followed immediately
by a test of the program in the DOS environment, so I'd expect to
notice a 4KB clobber in the program!
This news has come just in time for me, as I'm setting up an Apple II
CF/HD dev environment, including Copy II Plus.
So if 9.1 is buggy, what is the latest non-buggy version?
I see 8.2 on asimov, but the menu sucks compared to 9.1!
Yes, that was the "improvement" in version 9, and over the
years my fingers have learned it quite well. It will be an
adjustment to return to 8.3.
I could research it, but does anyone remember what the main
differences are between 9.1 and 8.3?
