Last night I was going about replacing my IIgs motherboard
which (quite probable) may have been a long-time source of
instability with my ZipGS. That went well, however in the process
I inadvertently damaged an internal SCSI cable *AND* it killed
my hardisk along with it (i.e. burning smell, smoke). :(
I've been using an internal Pegasus drive. The original
cable is long lost, but years ago I used an alternative by
joining two cables: an IDC-26 to DB25m, attached to a
dual DB25 to IDC-50 SCSI cable. It appears the latter
cable is what is damaged and needs to be replaced.
The hardisk and data hopefully I can replace in time,
but this cable is a bit more tricky to find....
Anyone have or know where I might find this cable?
It's just a standard SCSI 50-pin female cable that plugs
into the hardisk, and at the opposite end are two DB25
female connectors (one was used to join the other cable,
the second attached to the back port of the GS). At best
guess I would say this came out of a Macintosh or
possibly an external hardisk enclosure. I have a bunch
of similar cables, but they end with dual centronic 50
connectors, not DB25.
Really hope someone out there knows about the
cable I'm talking about. I was hoping to put my IIgs
back into active use, now it's looking like it could
end up going into the closet...
