Are spaces illegal characters in filenames under UNIX? If so, how do
you get a file with spaces stored on your machine in the first place.
Pretty much all the software I've used on both my Apple IIs and my PCs
that encounter names with illegal characters for the operating system
will either automatically replace them with legal characters or ask the
user to edit the name before saving the name.

If he wanted to keep the spaces in the filename, he could have also
replaced the spaces in the link with "%20".
