cygwin is my friend.

I reinstalled the latest version of cygwin with ncurses, put the lastest 
snapshot of cpmtools-2.9 under my home directory and then:

1. started cygwin.
2 cd cpmtools-2.9
3 
./configure --with-defformat="apple-do" --with-diskdefs=C:/cpmtools/diskdefs-2.9
4. make

That's it. It took but moments. Everything tested perfectly.

Two dll's are required:

cygwin1.dll
cygncurses-8.dll

Michael Haardt, I owe you a document with build instructions for cygwin 
under Windows. It will be expanded somewhat on the above but will be short. 
I will not be providing documentation for any other method of building 
cpmtools under Windows.

Apple II CP/M people I owe you a binary distribution with a html manual and 
sample disk image etc.

Michael Haardt I also owe you some corrections for your manpages as I find 
spelling errors and things of that nature.

Please give me another day or so to get this put together and the binaries 
etc. on my website. I'll get Michael Haardt the document first.

Udo Munk, Peter Dassow and David Schmidt:

It would take me too long to explain all the things I tried to avoid the 
cygwin build. It would take even longer to describe the many things that 
appeared to work but didn't as a result of trying to build this outside of 
cygwin.

At the end of the day, Udo's argument that the distribution of dll libraries 
was a good rather than bad thing made sense to me, as did his other 
opinions.

The msys adventure was fun, but fell apart on me in the end as did all the 
other nasty little things I tried until coming back to cygwin which I knew 
would work.

Thanks for the memories:) It will take a better programmer than me to prove 
Udo and David wrong on this count but the gauntlet is down for anyone else. 
I just threw-in the towel after several severe cases of rope-burn...
