Personal domains FTW!  alfter.us started out on an old machine at home, pressed
into server duty and connected through my cable modem (yes, I had the
business-grade service that allowed this use).  Currently, it's on a VPS at
Slicehost.  Less storage is available as I can't just slap another hard drive
in there (I could pay for more storage if needed...would probably just use
Amazon S3 for offering up large files), but it's on a much fatter pipe (at
least 10 Mbps upstream, vs. 256 kbps over the cable modem).
