What I find 'MOST' interesting, and thought impossible, is that this setup has read a CF card removed from a CFFA, and directly installed into it without any repartitioning or formatting whatsoever. And it still works in the CFFA? That is most astonishing! Or, have I misinterpreted what was said?It was removed from a CFFA and directly attached to the adapters. I had four partitions in the CFFA though, and only the first one is being "mapped" as a SCSI drive. I'm guessing that the SCSI-IDE adapter reads the IDE partition table and only uses the first partition. The same adapter may not recognize low-level SCSI partitioning and will not re-partition the drive beyond the 32MB CFFA partition, but I haven't attempted SCSI partitioning.
CFFA does not use a partitioning table at all. It's a fixed partitioning, 32/32/32/and whatever is left, usually around 28. That is why I'm in awe that it worked at all.
I got scrunched for time and wasn't able to see if the CF card I used works again in the CFFA setup (I suspect it would) -- will look into that tonight.
Uh-oh!, I hope you backed it up. It may not work in the CFFA anymore. All the SCSI cards on the Apple II use a different partitioning scheme, except that the Rev"C" and the Hi-Speed cards may be the same, not sure there either.
