The final version of the Apple II Diagnostic was version 3.0.
I recall the some of the older versions were written before the
ROM 3 or Apple IIc Plus existed, and therefore would fail the
diagnostic tests due to their detecting unexpected changes.
Quick way to check, go to "Special" and select "Display
Current System Status" and see if it reports something odd
for the ROM version.

Speaking of the ROM 3, my motherboard's Lithium battery
finally died last week. Looking at the date code of 10/90, it
worked for exactly 18 years before giving out! Now I have to
find not only a new motherboard (that's another story), but a
new battery as well. I hope I can still find one these days...
