but just wanted something quick and dirty. Ideally with example numbers
"got xxx applestones on YYY accelerator board".

Once the SPEEDTEST.DSK was mentioned, "locate" found it on my private "mirror" of the standard Apple archives :) Disk space is virtually free these days so I copied them wholesale before they go off-line for whatever reason.

There is a disk called SPEEDTEST.DSK IIRC. Should be on Asimov. Used to benchmark emulators and such. I used it for PalmApple benchmarking.

I couldn't find it on Asimov, but it's on Ground (mirrors):
