Vulcan 20MB IIGS hardrive -/ controller card

Hello!

I have tried to fire-up a second-hand Vulcan 20MB harddrive sitting in a 
IIGS ROM01. There is a ribbon-cable sticking out of the drive and a separate 
controller card marked:  Vulcan Rev.1.1  GS/20

The ribbon-cable from the drive does not seem to have a insert-guide notch 
in order to see if the cable is inserted correctly or up-side down.   Would 
the red-lead on the ribbon-cable be facing up-or down when connecting to the 
controller card?

Would I expect the drive to be readable directly after boot-up?  I tried to 
make the drive the start-up drive in CP, but this only resulted in a system 
freeze.

Which command should be issued  in order to access the drive from Prodos 
/Dos3.3?

Any advice appreciated!
