It just goes to prove that sometimes the simpler things in life (read Apple II) are the most reliable. :-)
Congrats on getting your disk backed up! You should consider uploading your disk image onto one of the Apple II disk repository sites to save it (and possibly stop others from going through your nightmarish ordeal.)
