A good place to start is in the Apple II FAQ:
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2MONITOR.html#015

The above URL lists many of the monitors that are compatible with the
IIgs and even lists the pin outs for many of the monitors to help with
creating the appropriate cable for hooking them up to the IIgs.
Generally, most Amiga monitors will work with the IIgs given the right
cable.

There are a few "scan doublers" (convert the IIgs horizontal scan
frequency to something usable by modern day monitors) that work in
varying degrees with the IIgs, however, AFAIK all of these solutions
offer below perfect results. I have heard talk from various sources
that work is being done on a dedicated RGB-->VGA converter for the
IIgs. As to the status of these projects I have no idea. Maybe someone
can chime in here?

Cheers,
