I haven't used a Mac in 15 years, so I wouldn't know. I haven't used
the LaserWriter driver in that time either, but I think I remember how
it worked.
Make sure you have the LaserWriter driver from System 6.0.1 installed
in the Drivers subfolder of your System folder.
Open the document you wish to print in the application you wish to print
from (e.g. AppleWorks GS). Select File-->Print from the menu. A dialog
box will appear with print settings to make. Choose your settings and
then, instead of clicking "OK" or pressing return to print, press
command-F on the keyboard. Your document will be printed to a postscript
file stored in the System/Drivers folder of your boot disk.
If I recall correctly, there is no text or option in the dialog box that
would suggest this is an option, but it is.
You can then transfer the postscript file to your Mac however you normally
do that.
I used this method back in the early 90's to print my lab reports on my
school's LaserWriter in the Computing Center. Instead of waiting in line
to use the Macs in the library I'd type the reports on my GS, print to a
postscript file, upload that file at 9600 baud to my school Unix acccount,
and print it with an "lp" command.
All the PC, Mac, and Amiga users in my dorm who looked down on my GS were
green with envy when they saw how professional my lab reports done on my
GS looked compared to their amateur reports printed on a dot matrix
printer. Bwwaahaahaahhaahaa. :-)
