Are you referring to the Spectrum Holobyte version? Yes, that
was ROM 3 compatible (just re-confirmed that on my real IIgs).
Must be your particular disk(s), or floppy drive, especially since
you mentioned having problems with your System 5 disk earlier.

I disliked the Spectrum Holobyte Tetris, the graphics were
dull, it lacked the music from the arcade, and worst of all, you
couldn't drop a piece and move it at the same time. The best
version of Tetris for the IIgs was DuelTris (you can download
the paid-registered version free, I convinced Steve Chiang to
reclassify it). There is also DuoTris on the GS<>IRC demo disk
and Tetris II, which used 256 colors. And there may have been
"Deluxe Tetris", but I only have the preview demo.
