It can even be done with one transistor, four resistors and one cap.
Only if you know that you need an INVERTING amp.
If direct connect results in a very low contrast, but not a "negative"
image, that is not the case.
But the
problem is that I suspect that the arcade monitor expects 0V input to be black
and does no black level clamping. So you're going to run into trouble when
attempting to do capacitive coupling.
Worst case is the uniform color field will have a gradient.
