If you turn it on, and a tube breaks and you're unable to replace
it, you'll have no use for your scope.
If you don't turn it on because you're afraid of breaking a tube, you'll
have no use for it either.
Therefore, you won't gain anything from not daring to turn on that
old oscilloscope. If you do turn it on however, perhaps you won't lose
any tubes? There's always a chance....
