I went through about 5 3.5" HD drives in less than 6 months on an old
PC because of bad disks and crap drives.
Fortunately, I have a box of 3.5" HD drives...

I have an old 360k 5.25" drive (these are getting rare) that I keep
having trouble with. I've basically left the cover off of it and
unanchored, simply sliding it out and cleaning it with a cotton swab
with alcohol whenever it gives me the fits...
