Re: How do I clean an Apple IIGS?

Motherboard in warm soapy water with a medium paint brush and soft toothbrush
for scrubbing. Swing it dry then bake at 120 to 180 F (the thing went through
a solder fountain that made it smoke plenty then a dishwasher when it was
manufactured. Some holes may have been "gooped" and delicate parts added
later but I don't see the indications of soldered add-ons. Or put out in sun
with a breeze. These are very robust boards plus they don't have any heavy
parts.

I have done keyboards whole and with all the keys removed. Remember, they
were also washed after soldering and can take it.

Don't use dishwashing powders in the dishwasher, they seem to be pretty rough
on the metals. I use any of the dishwashing liquids meant for hand washing or
a car washing powder. The "Jet Dry" or other anti-spotting stuff is fine and
makes the water drain out better. Kodak Photoflow would be excellent if you
have an old darkroom gone stale in the digital age.

The folks who shoot the plastic parts once told me they use gasoline to
clean. So I do and it works great.
