About your "RAWC": was there ever a physical disk with 15 sectors
instead of the usual 16?

Didn't Dos 3.2 disks have 15 sectors rather than 16? They used to hold less memory than the newer floppies...

DOSs prior to 3.3 had 13 sectors per track, as a result of recording
only 5 data bits per 8-bit disk nibble instead of the later version
that recorded 6 data bits per nibble.

I remember having to replace the chips on my Disk card so that I could boot/read the new floppies.

Yep. Though the new controller can actually read 13-sector disks--
it just needs the older boot code supplied some other way than on-card
ROM (like by running the BOOT13 program on the System Master disk).
