It's actually a debugging term, or so I'm told. I believe when using a debugger you're able to track how a program works and where in memory it's going to or will possibly go to next. So you can 'hook' a piece of code and follow it through execution loops - I assume.

I've never encountered this phrase in reference to breakpoint debugging,
so it must be a "local idiom".

This would seem to be an unusual way to attempt to get the (presumeably
tested) autorouter module working.  That is almost certainly a problem
with the installation/configuration of the program, not a debugging
problem.
