My friend had no box or case, at least initially, it was simply placed on a shelf above his desk.

"Apple ll is also available in board-only form to the do-it-yourself

Did anyone on here ever purchase just the board and use your own
keyboard, power supply etc?

I knew at least 2 people in our computer club who bought the motherboard
only... back when making a crappy looking pine box of your own was in vogue.

I've seen Apple main boards attached to a plywood base, along with a
power supply and a keyboard--no sides or top. It's called an "Apple
on a stick".
