Hi, I am currently thinking of expanding the programming examples for Virtual GS (virtualgs.larwe.com/) to ActionScript programming, since I think this is probably the most natural path for Complete Pascal/GSoft BASIC + Toolbox programmer to migrate to a modern architecture (after all, Virtual GS is a teaching site for kids in learning programming). A simple page with sample codes have been uploaded for all to see: http://virtualgs.larwe.com/Virtual_GS/Space.html If there is demand for this, I will continue to expand the teaching sites to program a "what's next" path for Apple II programmers. Please let me know.
You are certainly free to go whichever way you want; however, I don't think there are very many current Apple II enthusiasts who are looking for "what's next"--they've almost certainly already found what was next many years ago, and prefer to do their recreational programming on the Apple II. ;-) Your notion of using the IIgs and Complete Pascal as a platform for an introduction to programming, then transitioning within weeks to a modern platform, doesn't make much sense to me. Why not just start with ActionScript in the first place? (And a real IIgs really isn't rare or expensive compared to *any* modern platform.) -michael NadaPong: Network game demo for Apple II computers!
