Re: Looking for IIc external hard disk cable
An update on my efforts to get the Chinook Technologies CT-40c
connected to my IIc:
After looking through the online stores that sell connectors and
cables, I was almost ready to purchase a couple of DB-19 connectors
and wire them up together, until I chanced upon a "Unidisk Drive
Extension Cable" available on the store suggested by a2retro.

The cable is made by "IEC Cables". It was more expensive than buying
the parts and wiring them up together, but it saved me the trouble of
digging out my soldering iron.
Ironically, a few days after the cable I ordered arrived, the person I
bought the Apple items from found another box of cables lying around.
In it was the original DB-19 cable -- I guess it doesn't hurt to have
a spare. There was also an Apple DuoDisk cable (Part No 590-0114)
that has a male DB-19 on one end and a male DB-25 on the other end.
If I had to solder stuff up, I would have started with this DuoDisk
cable, since it probably would be easy to find the DB-25 pinouts.
I have the CT-40c drive working now. The IIc's that I own always boot
from the internal drive (IIRC, only the original ROM 255 can be booted
from an external drive). The Chinook SCSI Utilities show that it has
two 20MB partitions. I opened it up to get some pictures, but did not
go as far as replacing the SCSI drive since it's still working (for
now). It has a regular 50-pin SCSI ribbon cable connecting to the
board.
