Hi, I have many Apple Writer files on 5.25 disks. Is there a way I can convert them to be used on a PC? I have an Apple II GS with 3.5 and 5.25 drives.

There are several methods available for file transfer. The most budget friendly would be serial transfer. One option is ADT. It was originally a 5.25 disk to 'disk image' transfer utility. ADTPro, a modern version of ADT might be the better choice with many more features. You could also use telecom software to transfer files between the computers.

An alternate method uses a Mac or some hardware capable of reading the II formatted disks. Unless you have a friend or acquaintance with such hardware this method could get expensive.

You don't specify if the data is stored on DOS 3.3 or ProDOS 8 disks. This could affect the amount of work required to convert the data. There is a program called CiderPress which should help once you have the data/disk images on the PC.

It's possible that someone here might be willing to make the conversion to disk images for you. Then you could decide the best option to convert the actual data into something you can use.
