The disk II interface has already been reverse engineered and is well 
documented in a number of texts.  "Understanding the Apple II" by Jim 
Sather is one example.  I doubt that transferring components will save 
much, if any, design time over a new implementation.  With the vast 
increase in speed of modern micro-controllers over 1978 technology, I 
seriously doubt that the PROM sequencer at the heart of this controller 
is necessary.
