Hi All,

I've got my "new" IIgs (rom01) all setup and ready to go except for
software. I have a Mac Classic II (with an internal 1.44mb drive) I
was wondering if its okay to hook up one of my IIgs 800k drives to it.
Will it format the disk to 800k and allow me to transfer files to the
IIgs? Is there any chance of damaging the 800k drive or my Mac by
hooking them up?

Format it on the IIGS. Use it on the Mac.

Why make it any more complicated?

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Since I'm new to a IIgs and don't
have any software/documentation, I'm assuming that I can just do an
'init' from the applesoft command line to format a disk?

No, with ProDOS (unlike DOS), you'll need to run either the ProDOS
Utility Disk and select the Format option, or use practically any
other disk utility program (like Copy II Plus) to format disks.
