Oh well, Apple II (8 bit) series actually dies and Macintosh takes
over, until the Apple IIx (16 bit) comes along and becomes Apple IIGS.

I really does not want to argue with you on the slogan, but a computer
is considered "dead" once it has stopped manufacturing, from the
company point of view. For the user it is another thing. Yes, all
others like Amiga and Atari ST are also dead platform too.
