ZipGS and the annunciator ports...any connection?



This past weekend, I finally unpacked and set up my stealth GS again and got
it hooked into the LAN so I can test sstuff built with cc65.  To familiarize
myself with cc65 a bit more before I use it to start coding for my
6502-based beer-fridge controller board, I plugged one of my joystick-port
1-Wire interface/relay controller boards in and fired up the machine.

My 1-Wire routines need to run at 1 MHz, so slowing down to that speed
involves switching off the ZipGS (to go from 8 MHz to 2.8) with its CDA and
then going into the Control Panel CDA to slow down from 2.8 MHz to 1 MHz.

My interface board uses AN0 to send to the 1-Wire bus, PB2 to receive from
the 1-Wire bus, and AN1 to turn a DPDT relay on and off (in its intended
application, the relay switches a refrigerator or freezer on and off).  When
I went into the ZipGS CDA, the relay clattered for a split second.  When I
turned the accelerator on and off, the relay opened and closed.  IIRC, if
the ZipGS was enabled, the relay made noise when the CDA was opened and
closed; if it was disabled, the relay did nothing.

If I use AN0 and AN1 on a ZipGS-equipped machine to control other hardware,
is that going to have some effect on the ZipGS's operation?  Since all of
the ZipGS's configuration is done through software, was the means by which
it's configured ever documented by anybody?  If the accelerator kicks in
while software is communicating with 1-Wire devices, it'll produce invalid
results, so I need to make sure that doesn't happen.
