Do you mean volume numbers?  Or do you mean ProDOS and volume names?
DOS 3.3 didn't have volume names, so I'm not sure what you're after
here.

Sorry, but I'm not sure what you're really after here either.  What
two pieces of hardware do you want to connect, exactly?  A Platinum
and... what?  If you are talking about an ancient Mac with a serial
port, you can use MacADT to do disk transfers.  That's part of the ADT
distro on Berlios (http://adt.berlios.de), though Berlios access seems
to be spotty at the moment.
