CiderPress doesn't work under Wine, at least not for me...it crashes as soon as you try to do anything useful. I could run it under VMware, though.
Hmm, what distro and what versions of Wine have you tried? I know that versions of Wine available from the developers can break but have had little trouble with recent versions as supplied from distribution developers.

0.9.40 is what I've been running lately. 0.9.42 and later has standard file
dialog bugs that popped up in another program. Last time I tried running
CiderPress, I may have been running something between 0.9.30 and 0.9.39
(inclusive).

I'm successfully running 9.41.0ubuntu2-feisty1 (extra version info supplied by packages) on Linux Mint an ubuntu based distro. The cedega package is version 5.2 but the latest is 6. I've successfully used Cedega with Linux distros which didn't have their own wine package.

It could be something in the configuration or possibly a missing MS library.

I suppose that VmWare would be the next best option. Perhaps even better as there are a few minor issues I've had such as the viewer clipping the edge of the document.

Cheers,
