Re: Telnet from a Apple //e?
Back in the day we used to telnet all the time. One simply finds a
dial-up BBS type system. Connect to that system and then use the
remote telnet from that system.
It's been a long time but I thought you could telnet from Proterm
after you were connected. It used to be that internet providers would
allow you to dial up and connect to a menu. From that menu you could
use a program to telnet or actually do www. A program named lynx
could be used to do surfing, you just didn't see all the pretty
pictures. That makes it faster, if all you want is information.
But few internet providers allow you to directly connect like that
anymore. They are so afraid someone will go through a security hole
and do evil deeds.
