Where did the files come from? An SEA is generally a self-extracting 
archive i.e. it's an application. Unfortunately if it ever passes 
unprotected through a system which doesn't know about the ProDOS file 
attributes the attributes will get stripped off.

I'm pretty sure a Mac (at least one running System 6 to Mac OS 9) knows 
to retain the ProDOS file attributes, but if you download the file from 
an Internet server the Mac never gets the attributes to start with. To 
test this you can transfer a known file from the IIGS to the Mac and 
back again. If it arrives back with the correct file type then it's not 
the AppleTalk connection that's causing the problem.
