RAM was expensive. This was a starter card, which was OK for many people
because nothing had been written yet to use more RAM. Early on, the GS was just
a uber-//e...
This card had a short life-span anyway. Apple figured out it was as cost
effective to produce a 1MB card, solder 256K on it and make it expandable -
then the marketing department could take over.
Ah, the good ol' days.
I remember being impressed that a GS could have 512MB in it... what would I do
with that much RAM?! After a year or so, some of new games coming out wanted
768MB and I got over being impressed.
