These *don't sense "in" RGB*, but yellowish-green, bluish-green and
blue-violetish... !
That (partially) explains why we are not equally sensitive to R,G and
B..
Our eyes are (4.5..6)/3=1.5..2 "megapixel cameras" (each eye).. (too
bad ?)

And the cones are concentrated almost entirely in the central area
of the eye called the fovea.  The angular resolution of that area
is excellent, but we only see a tiny part of our whole visual field
in hi-resolution--we scan our gaze to appreciate the whole picture.

This is actually a very useful adaptation, since otherwise, the
bandwidth of visual information presented to our brains would be
many times greater, requiring even more of our brains to be dedicated
to visual processing than the large part currently used.

It is not unlikely that the brain evolved its considerable complexity
primarily to integrate survival-value information from our ears, noses,
and eyes--particularly our eyes.  Think of the brain as an "analysis
peripheral" for the eyes.  ;-)

Put another way, if our eyes were in our chest, our brains would be
there, too.
