VNC for Apple

Here is the situation: A friend living in Australia needs
to provide computer support to his old father who lives
in Sweden. In such situations I install a copy of VNC
on both machines: One in listening mode, the other in
reverse takeover mode. I am fully familiar with the technique,
except that I am a Windows person. I know nothing at
all about Apples and I do not have the faintest idea how
to install and configure such a thing on an Apple.

I am told that one of the machines is too old to run
Remote Desktop - it therefore has to be a third-party
product such as Chicken of the VNC. I do not need
any assistance with IP addressing and router configuration -
no problem there.

Is there anyone who can step me through the process
of installing and configuring a VNC product on an Apple?
The aim is to have the final product fully automated on
the computer used by the father, and largely automated
on the other machine.

I appreciate your help. And if this is the wrong newsgroup,
could you point me to the correct newsgroup?
